N.C. Fasting Retreat at The Nook of the Woods Retreat Center June 27-July 2, 2025

The Nook is pleased to offer an opportunity for folks to experience the detox benefits of fasting in a comfortable, casual and economical setting. This 5 day retreat is intended for folks fasting for the first time  as well as  those with previous experience. We will be sharing information, watching educational videos and generally supporting one another. Tom and Zena will be facilitating  but there will be no medical staff or spiritual gurus to guide you. Each participant will be free to choose the length and type of  fasting experience be it water fasting, juice fasting or some combination.

The Nook of the Woods Inn is a 6 bedroom, 2 story Inn sitting amidst a beautiful, private 40 acres located in the Brushy Mountains of Western North Carolina.

The Nook has three bathrooms, washer/dryer, kitchen/dining area, recreation room, decks and patio. Facilities are clean and comfortable but posh we are not.

The campus includes miles of walking trails, numerous swimming holes, a funky sauna, indoor and outdoor spaces for yoga and a studio for artistic endeavors.

High speed wifi available 24/7.

Some Details About the Retreat

In order to provide a comfortable experience and plenty of individual attention, this retreat will be limited to a maximum of 8 participants.

All inclusive costs (for 4 nights/5 days) will be between $270-$450 (+ taxes) depending on your choice of room (private/shared/dormitory).     All juices and meals are included.

Filtered NC mountain spring water and juices (fruit and vegetable) will be available throughout. Beginning Sunday at noon,  organic vegetarian meals will be available upon request.

As this is an unsupervised fast, we encourage all water only participants to begin refeeding after no more than 72 hours.

If you have a particular protocol for breaking your fast, let us know so that we can try to accommodate.

Please note:

This retreat is unsupervised and each participant is responsible for their own nutritional decisions. If you have any contraindications, consider fasting instead at a supervised fasting facility.

Meet Your Facilitators

Tom is the owner, dreamer and maintenance man at The Nook. Thirty years ago he water fasted for two weeks and, because of the health improving benefits experienced, has continued occasional fasting ever since. He is excited to offer The Nook facilities to others who wish to explore the fasting experience.

Zena is the facilitator for our artists/writers residencies, juicer extraordinaire and  kitchen wizard.
